About El puente_lab

El puente_lab is a platform for artistic and cultural production, active in Medellín - Colombia, which aims to develop cultural projects on a local level, building bridges of communication with artists and experts through a strategy of international cooperation.


The projects developed by El puente_lab meet the specific needs of the social context where they are carried out, using artistic creativity as a tool of activation of cultural projects that initiate, facilitate and / or accompany processes of education, communication and urban and social transformation.

Artist based between Colombia and Italy. He has exhibited internationally since 1994. He is co-founder of the collective El puente_lab in Medellín, Colombia and director of the Cittadellarte Art Office - Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy.

 

He graduated as a teacher of visual arts at the National University of Colombia, Medellín. He has participated in residencies for artists at Cittadellarte- Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy; Villa Arson in Nice, France; O.K. Centrum in Linz, Austria and Four Corners in London, UK. In 2018 he received the NCTM award for art in Milan, Italy.

Alejandro Vásquez Salinas, Medellín 1979. Master of Fine Arts, Utrecht Netherlands School of Arts, He obtained his degree in visual arts from the University of Antioquia in 2003.

 

He is founder and member of the cultural corporation El puente_lab, a cultural activation laboratory; Through which he has participated in various projects and workshops with international artists in the city of Medellín; and several exhibitions in Italy, Austria and Lithuania.

 

In 2004 he participated in an artistic residency at UNIDEE University of Ideas Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella Italy, and has continued to cooperate with the institution in design and art projects. Winner of the Referentes al Arte y la Cultura award, Visual Arts category of the Medellín mayor's office in 2018,

 

He is currently Director of the Paul Bardwell Contemporary Art Gallery of the Centro Colombo Americano and is in charge of the Deseartepaz program of the same institution.
